Reflecting on a Year of Floral Preservation: Gratitude, Growth, and Memorable Moments
As the year draws to a close, I find myself reflecting on all the incredible moments, the beautiful blooms, and the wonderful clients that have made this journey so meaningful. The past year has been filled with growth, learning, and so much gratitude both in this small business and personally. It’s hard to believe how far this floral preservation business has come, and as I pack up the final orders of the year, I feel an overwhelming sense of thankfulness. Not only for the work I do but for the clients who have trusted me to preserve some of their most cherished memories.
Floral preservation has always been more than just a job for me. It’s a way to capture moments that might otherwise fade away. There’s something so special about being able to take flowers from weddings, anniversaries, or other significant occasions and turn them into lasting pieces of art. For my clients, it’s a way to hold on to the emotions, the beauty, and the significance of a day they’ll never forget. For me, it’s a privilege to be a part of that. Every bouquet that comes through my hands tells a story, and I’m honored to be the one who gets to preserve those stories.
What makes this work even more meaningful is the fact that I get to do it all from home, with my one-year-old by my side. There’s something truly special about being able to run a business while also being present for my little one - it was one of the original dreams behind SK Designs that is now a reality. The balance isn’t always easy, but it’s absolutely worth it. Every day, I get to combine my love for flowers and my passion for preserving memories with my role as a mom. It’s a constant reminder that life is fleeting and beautiful, and that I’m incredibly lucky to have found a way to blend my personal and professional lives in such a meaningful way.
As I look back on this year, I’m amazed at how much has changed and grown. When I first started this journey, I never imagined it would evolve into something so fulfilling. From the first flowers I preserved to the hundreds of bouquets I’ve carefully crafted into lasting pieces of art, I’ve learned so much. I’ve learned the importance of patience, precision, and creativity. But most of all, I’ve learned that this work is about more than just the flowers—it’s about the people. It’s about the moments shared, the memories made, and the way those memories are preserved through something as simple, yet profound, as a flower.
One of the things that has kept me motivated this year is the incredible feedback and support from all of my clients. From each couple who had their wedding bouquet preserved to the mom who wanted to save the flowers from her child’s funeral, each story has touched my heart in a way I never expected. It’s those connections that keep me going, especially on the long days when the work feels never-ending. It’s also a reminder of why I do this in the first place: to help people hold on to something beautiful, meaningful, and lasting.
Of course, none of this would be possible without the support of my amazing clients, family, and friends. You have all helped me build something that I am incredibly proud of, and for that, I am eternally grateful. Your encouragement, your trust, and your belief in my work have meant the world to me. As a small business owner, every order, every message, and every kind word counts. I’ve been fortunate to work with some of the most wonderful people, and I look forward to continuing this journey in the year ahead.
Through it all, I can't help but thank the Lord for His constant guidance and blessings. This business has truly been a gift, and I know that I wouldn't be where I am today without His hand in it. He's provided me with the strength, the creativity, and the grace to keep going. I'm so thankful for the opportunity to do what I love while also being able to stay home with my little one. Every project I complete feels like a blessing, and I'm reminded every day that this work is part of a bigger purpose that I trust God is guiding me through.
